Bradford Bulls giant prop Paul Anderson appears to be winning his fitness battle in time for Sunday's final warm-up clash with Wakefield Trinity.
Anderson underwent further checks yesterday and provided he reports no ill-effects in the next couple of days will be given the chance to press his claims for a place in the side for the Challenge Cup fourth round tie with Workington at Odsal on Sunday week.
But Aussie centre Danny Peacock, who like Anderson underwent a knee reconstruction last season, may have to wait a little longer for his comeback.
A final decision has yet to be taken but Peacock is continuing to make progress and is also close to a recall.
Fans are reminded that Sunday's game kicks-off at 2.30pm not 3.00pm as stated in some sections of the media.
Wigan flexed their muscles for next week's Challenge Cup showdown against Leeds with an 18-16 victory over Halifax at the Shay last night.
The Blue Sox, who got off to a flying start with two early tries from Jamie Bloem, hit the front for a second time when Martin Moana touched down but they were undone by a sparkling 60-metre try from Kris Radlinski 15 minutes from the end.
