HURDLER Anthony Gill continued his quest for athletics glory with a superb performance at the Amateur Athletic Association Indoor Championships at Birmingham last weekend.

Anthony, 21, twice set new personal best times. He ran 8.22 seconds coming third in his heat behind world record holder Colin Jackson and Commonwealth Games athlete Lloyd Cowans. He then ran 100th of a second faster in the final, earning selection as reserve for the Great Britain Under-23 team.

Earlier he won the 60m hurdles at the Northern Indoor Championships held at Sheffield. He is now studying at Grimsby.

Riddlesden runner Alfie Atkinson, also a member of the Bradford Athletics Development squad also ran in the AAA's Indoor Championship, setting a time of 1min 56.38secs in the 800m.

Desmond Kapofu, who also trains at Keighley's Greenhead Track, was third in the AAA's senior men's triple jump.
