Phoenix came away with a creditable draw against Brighouse Town.
The Premier League leaders soon had Phoenix under pressure and should have taken the lead midway through the first half after Martin Crangle was penalised. Paul Linyard made the penlaty save look easy.
Phoenix were totally transformed after the break with Sean Bonner, Danny Spencer and Joe Bryceland taking command of midfield.
Mark Atkins and new signing Ben Furness, had headers cleared off the line and Linyard was on form again, pulling off an instainctive full length save to deny Brighouse a late winner.
Phoenix meet First Division leaders bay Athletic in the quarter final of the County Cup at Marley tomorrow (Saturday) ko 1.45pm.
Keighley Shamrocks contied their fight to get clear of the relegation zone with a 2-0 derby victory over Phoenix reserves with goals from Steve Pamment and Paul Driver. Steeton are still deep in trouble after going down 5-0 to Kinsley Boys.
Steeton Rserves beat Farnley 6-3 with goals from Harman (2), Middleton (2) and Blackley.
