LEE CROOKS has ordered his players to keep concentrating throughout Sunday's match against Doncaster Dragons -- or face his wrath.

After beating amateur side, Rochdale Mayfield, 48-2 last weekend Crooks was happy with the victory, but disappointed they didn't pile up a bigger score and really make the Lancashire outfit suffer.

"We kept up our concentration levels for the first half, and for the opening stages of the second period, but then things began to go wrong.

"The lads didn't keep to the game play we had mapped out and began trying to do too much with the ball. Errors crept in and we made far too many mistakes," Crooks said.

Sunday's first league match against Doncaster should also give the Cougars a comfortable opening league fixture, but with former Great Britain captain Garry Schofield leading the Dragons nothing can be taken for granted.

"We must remain focused throughout the match," the Keighley coach said.

Cougars also face the first division tie of the round in the Silk Cut Challenge Cup when they travel to Widnes on February 14.

"To be honest we are not even thinking about that game at the moment, we have other more important things on our minds," Crooks said. "But it is a match we can win and although we would have preferred a home tie I'm sure will will be taking a massive following of fans and it is certain to attract one of the biggest crowds of the day."

A work permit has been granted for Australian David Chapman and he is expected to fly into England next week.

"If his fitness levels hold up we might even have him in the team for the Challenge Cup match, but that is something I will have to look at when the time comes," Crooks said.

n Rugby League's First Division has been sponsored by Ford, and Keighley's delegation travelled to yesterday's launch in style.

Director Allan Clarkson, coach Lee Crooks and captain Jason Ramshaw travelled to the launch at Dewsbury in a Ford Cougar, provided for the day by Burgess Ford of Keighley.

n Keighley and Craven Schools take on the London district team in the English Schools Cup tomorrow (Saturday).

Both the Under-16's team and an Under-13 squad are due to take on strong teams from the capital at Cougar Park with the first of the games starting at 1.30pm.

Cougar captain Jason Ramshaw, coaches the schools teams and believes they have a good chance of lifting the cup, if they can beat the London teams.

"London is a very strong area at schools level, but we also have some very impressive performers in the Keighley team. Simon Bissell and Shane Walton have already got Yorkshire caps at Under-13 level.

"We hope for a big crowd to give the lads plenty of support. It is a chance to see some impressive prospects for the future at the start of their careers," he said.
