The beauty of Bront country has been demonstrated at the world's leading tourism showcase.

Representatives of Bront Country Tourism (BCT) have returned from the Vakantie-beurs Exhibition at Utrecht in Holland. It was the organisation's second appearance at the high-profile event.

BCT acting manager Debbie Hopkinson says visitor numbers at the show exceeded the previous year's 180,000. During the six-day event, more than 1,000 people visited the Bront stand, run jointly with neighbouring Herriott Country from North Yorkshire.

Debbie says: "Bront Coun-try Tourism brochures were in big demand and virtually all the visitors to the stand expressed a desire to visit the area. In particular, we identified a major interest in camping and caravanning holidays in Bronte Country. Because we are well represented in this sector we intend to develop links with local providers to increasingly cater for campers and caravanners from the Netherlands.

"There was also substantial media interest in the area and we are looking to organise familiarisation visits to gain positive exposure in the Holland press."

The Bront exhibition bandwagon hits the road again later this month with appearances at travel shows in Bolton and Birmingham. It is also hosting a two-day familiarisation visit to Bront Country this weekend for eight American travel agents. They will visit attractions in Keighley, Bradford, Saltaire and Skipton.
