Former Test players, West Indian opener Desmond Haynes and England pace bowler Graham Dilley were in Bradford today visiting the ECB course at the University Management Centre.

The course has been running for three years covers qualities like motivation, man management, leadership, handling the media, the business side of the game and understanding a balance sheet.

Robert McClements, chairman of the executive programmes at the management centre said: "During the last three years we have catered for 50 first class cricketers and coaches from each county on the course."

In the first year, they had Martyn Moxon from Yorkshire, in the second year Michael Vaughan and this year Steve Oldham.

Also involved this year are Bradford-born wicketkeeper Steve Rhodes from Worcestershire, Leicestershire's James Whitaker and Hampshire and former England batsman Robin Smith.

Haynes and Dilley will be in opposition at the Royal Armouries in Leeds tonight as part of an off-shoot of the course.

McClements said: "The evening at the Armouries is not part of the course, but we wanted to open things out to a wider public.

"We feel we have got two ex-players whose experience will help people to understand what goes on in the batsman's mind when he faces fast bowling and how to deal with it.

"Des and Graham will be using videos supplied by the England and Wales Cricket Board to illustrate what they have to say."

The evening is fully subscribed with an audience of 200 expected.
