Keighley Cougars will be without full-back Matt Foster for four weeks after it was revealed he had suffered a hairline fracture of the elbow.

The 22-year-old sustained the injury during the first half of last weekend's 42-16 victory over Doncaster Dragons and was withdrawn at half-time.

Scans have revealed the extent of the injury which is a blow because Foster looked to be recapturing his best form of 1997.

But coach Lee Crooks said: "It is a setback but you have to get on with things.

"He is very disappointed but it is now up to Matt to train hard for the next few weeks ahead of when he can rejoin the squad."

Cougars have been buoyed, however, by the arrival of centre Dave Chapman from Australia to boost their three-quarters.

The Cougar Park outfit pounced to sign the former Castleford player, who had been playing for Australian side Burley Bears in the Gold Coast competition.

A work permit was secured for the Australian earlier this week and Crooks collected his new star from the airport yesterday.

Crooks said: "He has been training hard with his club in Australia and he met the players yesterday evening for the first time. He is a tremendous acquisition for the club and will, more than likely, figure in the 17 for Sunday's Challenge Cup tie at Widnes."

Cougars will also be hoping for a boost on Sunday with the possible return of second-rower Andrew Schick, who has been sidelined for the last two weeks with strained knee ligaments.
