"We've proved we are the most consistent side in Super League, now let's prove we're the best."

That is the message from Bulls coach Matthew Elliott as the countdown to tomorrow's battle with arch enemy Leeds Rhinos at Odsal continues.

The Bulls have been assured of finishing top of Super League but Elliott admits it won't count for much unless it is followed up with Grand Final success at Old Trafford on October 9.

"Finishing first is a notable achievement but ask me to name the last 15 champions in Australia and I could reel them off. Ask me who finished on top after the scheduled league fixtures and I would really struggle.

"We have nothing to prove in terms of consistency but the real test comes now in proving that we are the best side in the competition and that is the beauty of the play-off system.

"The next two games are very important in establishing that belief. We will be facing one or both of Leeds and St Helens again in the play-offs and we could certainly strike some psychological blows over the next couple of weekends."

Meanwhile Elliott is hoping to receive a pre-match boost today with full back Stuart Spruce declaring his fitness to return after a three match absence with shoulder trouble.

"Stuart was pencilled in last week at Hull but then damaged it again in the final training session.

"Stuart would definitely be in my starting 13. I don't think there is any secret in that. He certainly needs some games under his belt before the play-offs but this is a big game and I won't be taking any risks."

Nathan McAvoy is also back in contention after missing the win over Hull with tonsillitis. David Boyle is expected to switch to the back row to cover for the absence of Mike Forshaw who could miss the rest of the season with a broken ankle.

Leeds welcome back forwards Adrian Morley and Anthony Farrell after suspension and are hopeful that dead-leg victims Daryl Powell and Ryan Sheridan will have recovered from knocks sustained in the win over Wigan.

But Terry Newton (suspension) and Richie Blackmore are both out and there are still doubts about Marcus St Hilaire, Marvin Golden and Jamie Mathiou.
