A third Bradford nightclub has been given permission to dance round the clock, despite strong objections.

Juice nightclub in Cheapside can now stay open until 6am on Saturdays and 8am on Sundays.

Owner David Thornes said: "I am delighted and think it will be a big boost to the city centre."

But David Honeybone, a solicitor representing the Boilerhouse nightclub which objected, told members of Bradford Council's Licensing Sub-committee: "There are simply not enough people wanting to come in to sustain a large number of night licences. If this is granted opposite the Boilerhouse you will lose two venues."

He said Sheffield had only one all-night club, while Leeds had just three.

But John Cordingley, representing Juice, said the Council wanted to provide a vibrant nightlife. He said visitors came to Juice from as far as Halifax and Huddersfield.

He said Juice already had significant staffing levels, would not cut corners and could meet all the conditions for an all-night licence. "They haven't just jumped into it, they have been planning it for months," he said.

Nexus was recently granted an extended entertainments licence to stay open until breakfast but Rhythmland failed to get an extension last week.
