Burley Cricket Club said farewell to their overseas star Duncan Hurd after two successful years with the club.

Duncan, a 26-year-old Australian from Tazmania, first came to Burley as an 18-year-old on the recommendation of another Burley Aussie, Richard Fleming.

Richard, who has played for Burley for 10 to 15 years, originally came from Tazmania and knew Duncan.

After playing for a season, Duncan returned Down Under but was asked to come back two years ago for another year. At the end of last season, the club was able to pursuade him to stay another 12 months.

According to Burley CC member Malcolm Wadsworth, he will be greatly missed. "He has been a fantastic servant to the club and we are sorry to see him leave.

Mr Wadsworth said Duncan was leaving at the end of a very successful stay with Burley CC.

"I think he has been a credit to the club and he has fulfilled every expectation we had of him. We are very sorry to see him go and we all will miss him.

"We would love him to stay on for another year but he has said he wants to go home," he added.

And before he left, Duncan helped his side gain a winning draw at
