THE final of the Ian Chappell Cup for third teams took place at Collingham Cricket Club between Ilkley and Guiseley on Bank Holiday Monday.

Although it wasn't as hot as for those playing on Saturday, the weather was still fine and Ilkley went into bat first on a clear but chilly day.

C Rackham and J Varley opened with some pretty impressive scoring and they eventually went on to hit 58 and 43 respectively to set Ilkley on their way to victory.

Great support came from J Mohammed who added 42 as Ilkley reached 189-7 in their 40 overs.

Bowling damage had been done by A Swallow with 3-78 and B Thatcher with 3-39.

In reply, Guiseley's start was impressive, S Yates added 48 and man-of-the-match M Ibbotson 51.

But only D Archibald added significantly to the target with 23 and Guiseley ran out of overs with their score on 168-7.

R Jones took 3-32 off 12 overs.
