Skipper Stuart McCall says the mood in the Bradford City camp is 'buoyant' as they prepare for their big televised clash with Spurs next weekend.

The 35-year-old made a welcome return after injury to the City side as a half-time substitute in the defeat at Arsenal before playing a full game against West Ham.

City lost both games to make it three defeats in just eight days, but McCall says there were positives to take out of each clash.

And with George Graham's side due at Valley Parade in front of the Sky cameras on Sunday, the City skipper has issued a rallying cry to his team-mates and the City fans.

He said: "West Ham are a top eight side and although we were disappointed to lose at home, I would have been much more disappointed to lose against the sides likely to be near the bottom of the table.

"I read that Harry Redknapp had paid us a massive compliment after the game by saying we looked like Real Madrid. It was a bit over the top but showed how well we did early on.

"But the problem was that we needed a goal. They had the quality in finishing but we knew that would be the case because the vast majority of Premiership strikers are clinical.

"We are looking forward to the Spurs game and we know when we get the chances that we must take them. We are playing neat and tidy without turning that into goals, but hopefully that will change on Sunday."

McCall was heartened by the crowd's reaction to going three goals behind against West Ham when they offered marvellous backing to the City side throughout the game.

He said: "I thought the fans were fantastic. We kept going right to the end and Lee Mills deserved a goal when he hit the crossbar. We were 3-0 down and yet all we could hear was our fans.

"I think the punters realise we are giving everything and that was a nice touch on a disappointing day"
