Bradford Bulls are considering switching to Friday night for home matches next season after shattering the Super League crowd record in the pulsating derby win over Leeds Rhinos.

The Odsal attendance of 24,020 surpassed all expectations and chairman Chris Caisley says many fans are already clamouring for Friday to become the regular day for home games instead of 6.00pm on Sundays.

"I had a terrific response from supporters after the game who said that they thought the whole spectacle was fabulous and that we should switch all our home fixtures to Fridays under floodlights," said Caisley.

"Our previous Friday night games have been pretty well supported, especially considering that they have all been screened live on television.

"Those who spoke to me said that they have more to do on Sundays in summer and there is also the point that Friday night would probably be better for our younger fans who don't have to get up for school the following morning."

Having beaten the previous record of 21,666 held by Leeds so easily, Caisley says the club must now do all it can to hang on to those who were attending for the first time. And Bulls are likely to market it as "Friday night footie" - a phrase used successfully in Australia.

"I reckon there were only about 3,500 to 4,000 Leeds fans there so that means 20,000 or so were Bulls followers and that gives us a big potential support to tap into.

"A Friday night kick-off might have had a significant effect and we will certainly be doing some market research to find out what the fans want.

"I know Leeds play on Friday nights and the competition doesn't what everyone playing at that time, but after the huge success we had it is something we must seriously consider."

Meanwhile, as revealed in Saturday's Yorkshire Sports, the Bulls have already started their recruitment drive for next season with the capture of 22-year-old Aussie centre Justin Brooker.

He will replace the retired Danny Peacock on the overseas quota.

Brooker has impressed in his first full season in the NRL with Western Suburbs despite playing for the competition's wooden spoonists.
