Bradford firm GBdirect is really taking off, thanks to a huge increase in entries on its Training Pages website.

The Heaton firm opened the site six months ago and had 3,000 entries over a number of months. But recently a further 1,000 entries were made in the last four weeks by firms wanting people to know about their information technology training. The site also gives details of what consultancy and training packages GBdirect has to offer.

The site is now the largest specialist IT and management training course database of its kind in the UK with courses on it from 350 firms.

The popularity of the site has also brought with it new business for GBdirect which carries out consultancy and training in information technology.

The firm, headed by managing director Mike Banahan, has won thousands of pounds of new business in the last few months.

The company, which employs four staff, is now on the brink of major new contracts which are expected to boost its turnover substantially.

Dave Fisher, the firm's head of business development, said: "Word is spreading about us thanks to the Training Pages website. This means that more people can see what we have to offer and new deals are being struck as a result."

The firm are leaders in providing electronic commerce solutions for firms using Open Source Software.

Their training division is also a leading light and specialises in the Linux system - a rival to Bill Gates's Microsoft.

Companies helped with the open-source system include IBM, Dell, Compaq, Planet, Hawke Systems, BSS and Bryant Homes.
