Sunday Alliance: First Division Queens Athletic, with Ian Flannigan orchestrating his troops, looked like causing one of the day's Senior Cup shocks at Premier Division Victoria Rangers.

Leading 2-1 at the interval, Queens ran out of second half steam and, with Jamie Pyrah scoring twice, Vics won 4-2.

In a closer game than the score suggests, better finishing by holders Ventus gave them a 4-0 victory over neighbours Green Man.

Guilty of giving their opponents too much respect early on, Westwood were beaten but not disgraced against Albion Sports, for whom Taj Singh hit three in a 4-0 result.

Oakenshaw repeated their previous week's league victory over Bradford Moor, the losers fading in the last 20 minutes. Mark Wilkinson hit a second half hat-trick and Craig Lawford's penalty was his 100th goal for the club in a 4-1 scoreline.

Bolton Woods repeated their win over Wyke Wanderers and, as predicted, the game was much closer. Wyke led 2-0 until a 44th minute Mick Burdett penalty reduced the arrears. Richard Peel equalised to send the game into extra time before Woods came through 5-3.

In last season's finalists East Bowling Unity's 5-1 win over Thornton, Dave Elvidge marked his return from suspension with a goal, and there was a first club goal for Lee Kilner.

In a match between two sides in the First Division title race, East Ward, with secretary Tom-my Scarr as a stand-in keeper, lost for the first time to Fair-weather Green 4-2.

Player-manager Wayne Cot-ton's return from injury was a boost for Hudsons, who didn't get all their own way at First Division West Bowling. Cotton's double helped see Hudsons home 3-2.

Eccleshill United blitzed Fire Brigade 13-1 in the Intermediate Cup, former keeper Stewart Wilkinson leading the scoring again with four.

Pudsey Royal, for whom first half scorer Lee Brook was man-of-the-match, beat fellow Divi-sion 1A title aspirants Greengates Albion 2-0. It was Greengates' first defeat.

Woodman Rovers Reserves couldn't bridge the gap between higher opponents. Clayton Orient won 7-1, five goals coming in the first half. Charlie Hogan hit four for the winners while Woodman's goal came from promising 15-year-old Ian Tay-lor.

There was no joy for Wood-man's first team either. Still without a win, they went down 3-1 at Malta Court, Leejay Kirk scoring twice for the winners.

Queensbury Reserves took a notable scalp as they knocked Baildon Trinity Athletic out. Two 16-year-olds did most of the damage, Steve Mason scored a hat-trick and his strike partner Mark Garth got one and Chris Marsden completed a 5-1 win against a team from a division higher.

Eccleshill CC looked good as they hit three second half goals through Mario De Luca, Mark Symons and Danny Whitting-ham, but they had already conceded five to visitors White Eagles. Golan Pavlovic (3), Dragan Lugonja and Slobodan Vojnivic took the Eagles through.

Horse and Groom met Lane Ends for the second time this season with the same result, Horse took the league points, and goals from Tony Munton (2), Paul Callan (2), Jim Cull and Gary Wainwright saw them through to the second round.

Royal Clayton put out Junction United, but only after a tremendous rearguard action in the second half.

Mark McLaren opened the scoring for Division 2B Royal, and they held it until the break. Division 1B leaders Junction hit back to lead 2-1, but couldn't kill the game off and McLaren levelled from a penalty. Mike Ferguson scored what proved he winner for Royal as Junction threw everything at them in the closing stages.
