Keighley MP Ann Cryer has vowed to continue pressing for a ban on fox hunting in the new year.

Mrs Cryer says pressure will be put on the Government to keep its election pledge to outlaw the practice. She hopes the ban will come before next year ends.

She said: "I have had massive support from people in Keighley and Ilkley on this matter and I have given my assurance that I will push the Government to have some form of government legislation, or at the end of the day a Private Member's Bill."

A previous bid by MP Michael Foster to bring in a Private Member's Bill banning hunting was blocked after being "talked out" of its allotted Parliamentary time. Mrs Cryer now fears the same thing may happen to a similar Bill now being proposed by MP Ken Livingstone.
