Supermarket chief Sir Ken Morrison is top of the district's rich list - despite being £90 million poorer than last year, according to a new survey.

The Morrison Supermarket Group chairman has a family fortune valued at £810 million earning him 28th place in the Sunday Times Rich List 2000.

The Morrison family was placed equal 20th in last year's list of Britain's wealthiest millionaires with assets of £900 million.

Saltaire-based company Pace Micro Technology also features in this year's rich list.

Co-founder David Hood is placed equal 58th with an estimated wealth of £420 million, a £270 million increase on 1999.

Mr Hood, 52, is a non-executive director of the firm, which deals in digital television set top receivers and satellite technology. He is also founder of aircraft chartering firm Multiflight, based at Leeds Bradford International Airport.

Barry Rubery, who helped launch Pace, is said to be worth £100 million, putting him equal 292nd in the Rich List 2000.

The boss of Filtronic Plc, Professor David Rhodes, is equal 363rd on the list. His estimated wealth of £85 million has almost doubled since last year.

Other Bradford area people on the list include Thomas and Gordon Black, of Keighley-based Peter Black Holdings.
