Bradford City have signed QPR's Nigerian goalkeeper Ademola Bankole on loan for the rest of the season.

The 30-year-old, 6ft 3in tall and known as George, will act as cover during the last nine matches as City battle for Premiership survival.

Bankole, who came to this country from Nigeria in 1995, played briefly with Doncaster Rovers and Leyton Orient before he joined Crewe on a free transfer. He made six league appearances and played in one cup match before joining QPR in May 1998 in a £50,000 deal. He has made one substitute appearance for QPR this season.

City, who have goalkeepers Matt Clarke and Gary Walsh out injured, signed keeper Aidan Davison from Sheffield United last week.

Meanwhile, they have agreed to extend the loan deals of striker Isaiah Ran-kin at Birmingham and defender Mark Bower at York.

Chairman Geoffrey Richmond said: "We have extended Isaiah's loan for a final month with an instant-recall clause written into the deal."

Richmond laughed off speculation that Graeme Souness is about to try to capture City's Dean Saunders.

The new Blackburn boss has signed the Welsh striker three times for Liverpool, Galatasaray and Benfica. He was rumoured to be making a move for Saunders.
