WHEN airport worker, Brigitte Robson saw blood on the hands of a man waiting in the arrivals lounge, she didn't hang around.

The customer service assistant who works at Leeds-Bradford airport immediately called the police. And her swift action led to the man being found guilty of the manslaughter of his girl friend in Bradford four hours earlier.

Yesterday, Brigitte, aged 40, received a special commendation from Weetwood Police who wanted to reward her for her quick thinking 18 months ago.

Brigitte told the Wharfedale Observer this week how she spotted the suspect before the police even knew of his girlfriend's murder.

"He had a little blood on his hands and looked very shaken, he was in a trance," she said.

"He said he was waiting for his girlfriend who was coming on a flight from Spain and I knew there were no more flights from Spain so I started to suspect something."

Brigitte called police straight away, but it wasn't until two days later that the man's girlfriend was discovered murdered and he was arrested.

Police later said Brigitte's actions saved the force hundreds of hours of work. And Brigitte said she was 'over the moon' with the award.

"If I see anything like this again I'll definitely ring the boys in blue," she added.
