IAN Waddington set the fastest time at the Ilkley Motor Club's autotest at Brimham Rocks on Sunday afternoon in his Mini but only fifty seconds split the Cookridge driver from his close rival Francis Tindall at the end of 18 tests.
Waddington took the top award while Francis won the fastest time of day trophy. Although not the fastest at the Summerbridge venue, Ilkley's policy on awards prevents one competitor from winning more than one. Henry Kitching again won his class in his MG Metro, beating Pool's Adrian Tate in a Golf GTI.
Chris Tindall kept Burley well in the picture with a winning drive to take the mini class.
Results: Winner Ian Waddington (Leeds) Mini 1098.1 seconds.
Fastest time: Francis Tindall (Leeds) Mini 1148-0.
Class 1: Chris Tindall (Burley) Mini 1277.9. Class 2: 1 Henry Kitching (Cookridge) MG Metro, 1158.4; 2 Adrian Tate (Pool) Golf GTI. 1229.4 .
Novice: Dave Bate (Menston) Ford Sierra, 1768.1.
