Last of the Summer Wine actor Gordon Wharmby, who plays Wesley in the BBC comedy, will open the British Watercolour Society Summer Exhibition in Ilkley.

In memory of the late Bill Owen, who played the comical role of Compo and opened the exhibition last year, his colleague will launch this year's show on Saturday, June 10 at the Kings Hall Winter Gardens at 11am.

Between 5,000 and 8,000 people are expected to visit the show, which will feature works by a number of Bradford artists, including Anita Hall, of Baildon, Christine Willan, of Tong, Celia Smith, of Cleckheaton, Doris Britton, of Bradford, and Jeremy Taylor, of Baildon.

The exhibition, which represents the British Watercolour Society, the Society of Miniaturists, and the British Society of Painters, runs until June 18 and is open daily from noon to 5pm. Admission costs £2.50.
