The firm behind the revival of troubled Bradford company Diamond Seal has won contracts valued at £20 million in the last six months.

Hurst Group, based at Low Moor since January, also has a list of prestigious projects to its name and works for household name clients across the UK.

The firm's founder Norman Hurst said Diamond Seal would become a very important part of its plan to move into hotel refurbishment work.

The group, headed by Mr Hurst, is seeking to invest £1.5 million in Diamond Seal as it transforms it from a failed firm into a success.

The money will be spent on new premises, machinery and increasing the workforce.

He said: "We are about to move into carrying out refurbishment for the UK hotel industry and Diamond Seal will become a very important part of that work.

"It is an important acquisition for us. Diamond Seal has a good reputation and is known around the country."

Mr Hurst said Diamond Seal would be integrated into the shopfitting side of the business and move more into providing commercial windows and doors as well as continuing with domestic windows, doors and conservatories.

The group has five divisions which are Hurst Stores and Interiors, Hurst Joinery Projects, Hurst Electrical & Mechanical Contractors, Hurst Ceilings & Flooring and Hurst Plastics. It plans to grow the business through acquisition and diversification.

Hurst Group, which started in Thornton and has been based in Brighouse for a number of years, has appointed David Kubran, 41, as managing director of Diamond Seal who is also managing director of the firm's Hurst Plastics division in Hull.

He said: "As the business grows we will be looking to increase the number of jobs after we have found new premises in the Bradford area."
