Keighley Rugby Union club plays host to the Rugby League code this weekend -- when Keighley Albion and Keighley Town do battle for the local 'Challenge Cup.'

Albion will be out to prove their standing as the leading lights of local amateur rugby league and will be anxious not to be usurped by the 'Old War Horse' Martin Plunkett's rapidly improving Town side who will be a force to be reckoned with in the Pennine League next season.

The game is a real mouth watering confrontation to prove who is top dog in the town, and it is certainly not one to miss.

Two Scotsmen have been appointed to referee the the contest and the A Team Challenge Shield which precedes it. Iain McGregor from Huddersfield will take charge of the main event and John Craig will take command of the A team event, which also features Albion v town.

Sunday's affair should also be a day to savour. the A team game kicks off at 1pm with Keighley Cup -- formerly the tommy Holmes Cup -- taking place at 3pm. Admission if £2 with OAP's and children free.

n A festival of youth rugby is to be held at Cougar Park on Saturday with 22 teams playing a total of 14 games.

For the first time the event will also involve two girls teams playing at Under-13 and Under-15 level. The day long contest starts at 10am with Under-8's teams and goes throughout the afternoon with Under-16 teams kicking off at 5.10pm.

The festival is in its fourth year and has grown every year.

"All the teams are local so we can expect some spirited contests and we hope there will be a good crowd to enjoy the action and cheer the young sportsmen and women on.

Admission of £1 helps offset the cost of trophies which are awarded to everyone taking part. Children are free. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
