Steeton notched up their first win of the season against a good North Leeds side.

They recovered from another terrible start to build a total of 221-9 with Neil Spragg the pick of the batting with 76. Other notable contributions came from veteran Mark Hedges and Rob Wynn, who impressed with 30 each.

The total was respectable, after they had struggled to 50-5.

North Leeds made a good start as they coped with Scothern and Stuart Hudson, but some very tight 'spin' bowling from pinch-blocker Howarth together with another great spell of hostile fast bowling from Spragg ripped through the top and middle-order.

The old Steeton spirit and fight was back and despite a late effort by North Leeds they were dismissed for 160.

Haworth claimed four wickets while Spragg and Hudson finished with three each.

The win pushed Steeton up the table as they work to make it another successful season.

n After losing two early wickets Hayden Tennant and Dave Jackson built and impressive partnership to give Silsden a fighting chance against Beckwithshaw.

Tennant (61) and Jackson (60) took the score on to 114 before the third wicket fell, but Dave Bainbridge (10) and Andy Pullen (14) were the only two other batsmen to reach double figures as they reached 174.

The visitors set their stall out from early in the innings with openers Bolton and Kneller both making half centuries in an opening partnership of 110.

Silsden were desperate to make a breakthrough, but Wilkins and Walmsley forged a solid second partnership to take an eight wicket win.

Silsden 2nds also found the going tough against Collingham. Opener Stuart Tillotson was dismissed with just four runs on the board and although Stoker and Sagar worked hard, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

Paul Tatterton scored 25 and there were contributions of 18 from Dave Wall, 18 from Hodgson and a late 23 from John Roberts, they were bowled out for 151.

The Collingham batsmen also struggled, but Jones scored a match winning 98 to deny Silsden the points.
