MANAGER Bobby Davison has been given a vote of confidence by the Guiseley AFC directors despite the side being relegated into Division One of the UniBond League.

Relegation is a big blow to Guiseley but the board of directors spoke with Davison last Thursday and told him that he was the man they wanted to lead them next season.

Guiseley AFC Chairman Phil Rogerson said: "We have had a chat with Bob and we feel that he is the man to do the job of getting us back into the Premier Division. Things have been tough this last season and he had an enormous injury list to contend with and no finance to bring other players in.

"He feels that he would like the chance to put things right and we have decided to give him that chance. This appointment is of course subject to him agreeing to any budget restraints we put to him and further discussions will take place.

"Bob is confident that a lot the players from last season will want to give something back to the club after a poor season and that may well mean taking a cut in pay."

Meanwhile the club directors are taking stock of what work needs to be done immediately at Nethermoor Park to get an A grading. It is expected that work will be carried out to the pitch barriers, to the pitch surroundings and to the changing rooms.

Working parties are already underway at the gound on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9 am.

The club is also involved in planning a fun day and cricket match as part of the Guiseley Festival. This will include a cricket match between the football and cricket clubs and a fun run with proceeds going to Wheatfields Hospice.
