IT'S quite something to equal the record for the number of consecutive victories -- particularly as the record has stood since the early 1900's.

It wasn't a record we were looking at, in fact I didn't know anything about it until after the match.

It wasn't a pretty game, Batley didn't have a midweek match, while we'd had a tough encounter at Oldham, and they came to slow the game down and frustrate us.

These spoiling tactics do have an effect on players, especially as our lads are used to playing it quick and using the full width of the field. Frustration starts to creep in and that is exactly what happened to Dean Hanger. He was blatantly punched just before he lashed out, but the referee did nothing about it.

He knows he shouldn't have reacted as he did and has apologised to the rest of the team, I've also had a quiet word and we both know how important team discipline is.

He's very popular both in the dressing room and on the terraces and we'll be trying to get him off with as light a sentence as we can when we visit RFL headquarters for next Tuesday's disciplinary hearing.

WE were a bit under par in the first half against Batley but that was understandable after such an epic battle against Oldham in midweek. the intensity of that game had a bearing on that first period, we had a chat at half time, made a few adjustments, and then dominated the second half.

AS A FORMER Hull players, from the other side of town, I'm sure I will get a warm welcome from the Kingston Rovers fans.

When it comes to rugby in Hull I'm Black and White through and through, so I'm looking forward to the reception.

It's 'Lucky 13' for us and I know the Cougar convoy, and all the travelling fans will make a lot of noise in what will be a very hostile environment at Craven Park, get behind the lads and cheer them to another victory.

FINALLY I'd like to congratulate Sir Geoffrey Richmond and the Bradford City club in keeping their Premiership place -- that's a remarkable achievement.

Hopefully now the soccer season has ended we will attract a few City fans down to Cougar Park to cheer us on to a celebration season.
