Guiseley CC get the chance for revenge after losing to double winning Steeton in last season's Waddilove Cup final.

The two teams meet on Sunday in the first round of a re-vamped competition which sees an open draw with no byes.

Guiseley came through a preliminary round battle with Hall Park to set up a meeting which repeats last season's final.

New skipper Steve Thompson feels fairly confident his men can go one step better this time.

"We beat them twice in the league last season when they won the championship and we let things slip after being in a position to beat them in the cup final so we are looking for revenge," said Thompson.

"We now have our chance to put the record straight," said the former Green Lane and Horsforth player who has settled in well at Guiseley and has now taken over the captaincy from Andrew Paley.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has a few new faces in his side with Australian Dave Walkeden, a tall and rangy pace bowler; Neil Johnson, a batting recruit from Adel and the once again returning Mark Ross.

Guiseley now look to have a strong, all round side and under Thompson's enthusiastic leadership this could be their year.

Another change to this year's competition which may well have a telling effect is the restriction on the number of overs a bowler can bowl.

With only nine overs per bowler sides will have to produce five front line bowlers if they hope to make a mark.

Some of the new clubs admitted to Division C this season get a chance to flex their muscles against teams from the other divisions.

Former league members Thackley on their return to Waddilove Cup action travel to Ilkley while Pool Mills take a trip to Horsforth and Bolton Villas take the trek over from Bradford to Church Lane, Adel.

Upper Wharfedale from Grassington have a long trek to Bilton while Bardsey entertain renowned cup fighters Knaresborough.

Olicanians make the journey to Beckwithshaw while Colton entertain Skipton. Two of the former Leeds League clubs from last season meanwhile meet in this first round with Pool travelling to Ben Rhydding.
