COUGARS are poised for a record-breaking weekend as they head for their thirteenth consecutive league victory -- the first time in the club's history they have enjoyed such a run.

Way back in the 1902-03 season was the last time they won 12 games on the trot, and that year they went on to win the Division Two title. "Everyone here hopes we can go on and repeat that success," said managing director Peter Rowe.

But coach Karl Harrison is faced with his biggest injury crisis of the season, with a string of his hard working forwards out of action.

Steve Hall's groin strain has still not cleared up and he is likely to miss a couple more games and Phil Stephenson is also doubtful with a swollen knee.

Skipper Alan Boothroyd will also be out of action for a few weeks after tearing his calf muscle during last weekend's victory over Batley Bulldogs.

"That leaves me with a few selection problems in the forwards. The pack has been superb this season and their efforts have laid the foundation for our creative players to do the damage.

"We have people to come in, but we may not be as strong in that area so there will have to be a few adjustments if we are to continue our magnificent run.

"I intend to leave it as late as possible before naming my starting line-up," he said.

The trip to Hull is never easy and Harrison warned that nothing can be taken for granted.

"Hull KR are going through a sticky patch at the moment, having lost their last six games, but they will be fired up for our visit to Craven Park.

"The narrow field will suit them and coach Dave Harrison will be impressing on them the need to win to keep up with the leading clubs."

Harrison, who played much of his pro rugby with Hull RL, at the other side of the town, expects to be given a red hot reception by his old derby rivals, but is relishing the prospect of a bit of 'needle' from the crowd.

It will also be a big game for Ian Hughes and Graeme Hallas who are both Hull Old Boys. "Graeme has played for both Hull clubs and will be keen for us to come away with both points," Karl said.

n The club has also offering young fans the chance to see the next home game for just £1.

They will be aiming to beat their 98-4 victory over Lancashire Lynx when they meet in the return fixture at Cougar Park next Friday night.

"It should be a real celebration with piles of points in Keighley's favour and we want our young fans to be able to look back on a fantastic night when they are older and say 'I was there,'" said MD Peter Rowe.

The £1 admission deal gives children a discount of £3 on the normal ticket price and is available with the coupon which is printed on Page 13 of today's Keighley News -- and which will be repeated next week.
