The distraught mother of a 23-year-old woman who suddenly died at her Bradford workplace is still waiting to find out exactly what killed her.

Claire Tewkesbury collapsed and died at her desk at the offices of holiday company JMC at Aldermanbury. It is thought she might have suffered an allergic reaction to something she ate.

"She had a sandwich for lunch and half an hour later stood up as if to sneeze and collapsed on the floor," said mum Patricia Aubrey. "The doctor told me it was possibly a reaction to something she ate which caused her airways to block. I am trying to contact the Coroner to see if any more tests can be done."

A worker trained in first aid frantically tried to resuscitate Claire as an ambulance took 25 minutes to arrive - but she was found to be dead on arrival at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

She was due to begin a new job at Virgin Atlantic in Sussex only a few days after her death on June 7. "She had tried on three occasions to get a job with Virgin and the interview when she got the job was on her birthday," said Patricia, of Boothtown, Halifax, "She would have started last Monday but I had to ring them to tell them she wouldn't be coming. They could not believe it."

Claire was born in Bradford and attended Barkerend First School, Pollard Park Middle School and Queensbury Upper before moving to Halifax. She had recently moved back to Bradford. Although she suffered asthma as a child she only used her inhaler about once a year.

"She had grown out of her asthma," said Patricia. "She didn't smoke, went to the gym and didn't really drink much."
