IT was fun and games for all ages on Weston Water at Otley Sailing Club's Regatta. The weather, apart from a cold northerly wind in the morning, was warm and sunny with a nice light wind.

The Le Mans start had the crews racing down the slipway, jumping into the boats and chasing off round the lake. The winner was Norman Stephens; 2, Chris Clough; 3, Richard Broad and Dave Shelton. The ladies' race was won by Stella Murdoch crewed by Helen Cooper; 2, Sally Moore; 3, Valerie Dingwall and Debbie Maxted.

There was a large entry for the Under-16s won by Hayley Moran (eight); 2, Josh Moran; 3, Pagen Guthrie. Non-winners race came next won by Tom and Aidan Reilly; 2, Dave Shelton; 3, Gary Nutland. The Crew's Race was won by Val Dingwall crewed by Johnathan Dingwall. The runners-up were Aidan and Tom Reilly.

The Over-50s had the closest finish of the day, Chris Clough beating Stella Murdoch and Andrew Fellowes who just inched ahead of Norman Stephens. Next, the adults who could, squeezed into the tiny Optimist dinghies and sailed round, rather slowly. Sally Moore comfortably won from Richard Broad, Norman Stephens coming in a close third.

Balloons were next released on the water and the dinghies with plenty of excited children aboard vied to collect the largest number. The winners were Richard and Pauline Broad and David Hinks and Adam Simms, who collected 21. Events especially for children were the fancy dress won by Declan Guthrie (Captain Hook complete with blow-up crocodile) and treasure hunt won by David Fellowes. To end the day a swimming race was held, all wore life jackets and it was won by Ruth Wheeler.
