YORKSHIRE PARKS County team booked a place in the Super Premier play-offs when they beat the Merseyside team Wallasey last weekend.

The away squad collected a narrow victory, but on home turf at Silsden Playing Fields, the home team secured an easy win led by Les Foster and Jamie Cunningham. The finals are on September 17.

The Skipton inter-district team suffered ups and downs in their last game of the series, against title favourites West Riding. The local crew won the home leg at Steeton thanks to fine performances from Andy Uttley and Phil Tunney, but the away squad suffered a crushing defeat without a single winner at Spen Victoria.

Cross Roads have qualified for the final stages of the Brotherton Cup, beating Elland WMC by two points. Keighley A meet Silsden A in another qualifying match tonight (Friday). The finals take place on local greens on September 3.

Seven top bowlers - and Roy Sanderson - have qualified for the Skipton Merit Finals on July 30. The other qualifiers are Chris Slater, Jocky Wilson, Jamie Cunningham, Kevin Wardley, Tony Finn, Ken Brenkley and Idris Wade.

The Valley Trebles, sponsored by DFPS Transport, was won by homesters Peter Heaton, Peter Smith and Jim Blood at Denholme. They held on to beat David and Mary Hemsley and Mick Harrison of Oxenhope.

The Ogden Handicap, sponsored by Mr and Mrs P Dowgill, is at Silsden PF on Sunday, starting at 9.30am.
