Steeton are back on track to retain their Airedale and Wharfedale League title after their win over second placed Rawdon on Saturday.

They now face a vital match against front runners Guiseley on Saturday - a massive six pointer for either side.

Steeton defeated Rawdon by nine wickets as they showed some of the form which gave them a league and cup double last time out. This win came despite a superb all-round show by Rawdon's West Indian Kenrick Marshall.

He hit 55 of their 177 runs after he had taken 7-60 but it was not enough. Steeton had made 186-9 thanks to Neil Spragg's 66, Matthew Pinniger's 35 and Robert Wynn's unbeaten 31.

Although Marshall and Craig Walsh (27) made inroads Rawdon succumbed to the bowling of Guy Saxton (6-61) and Stuart Hudson (3-76) and finished nine runs short.

Guiseley on the other hand bounced back from their Waddilove Cup final disappointment to beat Beckwithshaw by four wickets with the prolific Glen Taylor once again amongst the runs with a knock of 74.

Beckwithshaw had made 189 thanks to some solid batting from Matthew Smart (40), Steve Walmsley (26), S Barker (35) and D Bolton (32). For Guiseley Aussie Barry McCormick came good with the ball taking a superb 7-43.

Guiseley's win saw them move three points ahead of Adel with Steeton and Rawdon in third place a further four points adrift.

Adel gained five points from a draw against Waddilove Cup winners Burley whose league position remains perilous.

Adel made 203-8 but were held up by another good innings from Andrew Arundell with an unbeaten 52 as Burley replied with 129-8.

Sean Atkinson showed his best form with a magnificent 97 as Skipton overcame Knaresborough by nine wickets. Knaresborough had totalled 175-8 with Jonathan Corcoran hitting 85 to take his season's tally to 588 but it was to be Atkinson's day and he finished with an unbeaten 97 with excellent support from Danny Sturgess with 64 not out.

This pair added 138 for the second wicket and helped ease Skipton's relegation fears.
