THE ever-expanding world of the internet has been big news for sports fans, suddenly everyone around the world has access to the latest news, results and information as it happens -- and local clubs have not been slow to join the rush to the net.

With a plethora of football related sites it is no surprise that Keighley is fairly well represented on the world wide web. Keighley Phoenix (www.keighleyphoenix.co.uk) are up an running with their highly informative site, while other teams, Shamrocks, Silsden and Steeton, are also featured on the excellent and always up-to-date West Riding County Amateur League side (http://members.tripod.co.uk/wrcaft/)

Among other clubs with their own site are Bocking (www.bockingfc.co.uk) of the Keighley Sunday Alliance League where Richard Townend and Brian Foulger have put together a light hearted site for the Sunday morning enthusiast.

For supporters of local teams Keighley Athletic's results can be found on the Wharefdale Triangle league's website (www.wtfl.org) which has been up and running since July, while Cross Hills can be located on the West Lancashire League's site (www.footballnews.cu.uk/league/engwll/hompage).

Nationally Rugby League isn't that well represented on the net, but luckily Keighley is. Keighley Cougars (www.cougars.co.uk) ofer the usual selection of news, fixtures and results as well as an interesting archive section, plus much more. In addition to the official site is the Unofficial Cougars Website (www.vbcgroup.com/vbc/kcrfl.htm) which as well as offering match reports has all the latest gossip from Cougar Park. Even the Cougar Cubs have their own site (www,cougarcubs.go-legend.net).

The town's three amateur clubs are also on line with Kit Kelly's Keighley Albion (www.albion.go-legend.net) and Keighley Town (www.village.go-legend.net) websites. Albion themselves have their own highly informative website (www.geocities.com/Colesseum/Lodge/2213/hopepage.htm). To add to this Graham Clay's Silsden Park Rangers site (www.clays.force9.co.uk) is now back up to date with all the latest goings on at the Cobbydale club.

Athletics is well represented on the internet with more and more clubs coming on line every day. Among those with the best sites are Keighley & Craven Athletic Club (www.keighleyandcravenac.co.uk) who have been up an running for a few months now. Their site offers plenty of information about the club, its members and its races. Of other local clubs Bingley Harriers (www.bingleyharriers.purplenet.co.uk) and Wharfedale Harriers (www.wharfedaleharriers.org.uk) are also on-line.

Surprisingly the sport of cricket has been slow to jump on the bandwagon with very few leagues and clubs currently running web sites. However, Oakworth Cricket Club (http://members.aol.com/terryoak) are up and running. Their web-site offers basic information about the club and the Craven Cricket League, Another Oakworth-based side, Cross Roads (www.crossroadscricketclub.co.uk) are one of only two Bradford Central League sides with their won website. An interesting aspect of both Cross Roads and Oakworth sites are the historical features which outline the formation of each club back in the mists of time. To add the the collection Airedale Hospital's Airedale Taverners (www.airedale.co-legend.net) are also on-line.

Among the other sports, Keighley Golf Club (http://members.xoom.com/keighleygc/KGC.htm) and Bronte Wheelers Cycling Club (www.btinternet.com/bronte.wheelers) also offer basic web pages for the sports enthusiast.
