More talks will take place this week between Bradford City manager Chris Hutchings and his predecessor Paul Jewell over the transfer of defender Ashley Westwood to Sheffield Wednesday.

The 22-year-old player has impressed during his loan spell at Hillsborough and Jewell is keen to sign him on a permanent basis, but the sticking point could be the fee City want for the player.

Westwood cost City £150,000 when they signed him from Crewe two years ago. Although Hutchings will not confirm a figure, City are thought to want £250,000 for the player who does not figure in the manager's plans.

Hutchings said: "I have spoken about it to Paul and will have another word with him over the next few days.

"Whether the transfer goes ahead depends on money. If Sheffield Wednesday want to buy him the price has got to be right. There is no point in giving him away.

"They are buying a player with a Premiership club and the deal has got to suit all parties."

Full back Ian Nolan who helped Northern Ireland to beat Malta 1-0 in a World Cup qualifying match at Belfast on Saturday was back in training with the other City players yesterday in preparation for tomorrow's match against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

City are hoping that their other player who was on international duty, Dan Petrescu also had no ill effects after playing for Romania in their 1-0 win against Lithuania, also in a World Cup qualifier.
