From the Telegraph & Argus of September 5th, 1975... More than 100 old people in Bradford have been waiting for more than a year for a place in one of the authority's homes. This was revealed in a report to Bradford's Social Services Committee which said that in April this year there were 431 people on the waiting list, of whom 71 were considered to have high priority and a further 103 were at present in hospital. In fact, Bradford has a better than average provision of beds for old people. It has 1,361 places which represents approximately 21 beds per 1,000 over the age of 65. The national average is 19.

The Consumer Committee of the High Eldwick, Drake Hill, Hawksworth and Low Springs Property Owners and Occupiers who have been refused a supply of electricity until the latter part of 1952 are to make a new approach. At a meeting last night they decided to collect information on the production of food on the farms in the area without a public electrcity supply and submit it along with a renewed application to the Yorkshire Electricty Board.
