Darren Gough has been wounded by abusive letters from Yorkshire members who have accused him of not wanting to play for his county because of the time he spends with England.
One man wrote that Gough should be sacked by Yorkshire for putting England first and several others said they will not be supporting his benefit next season.
"I find the criticism very hard to take because ever since I made my first class debut I have given everything for both Yorkshire and England," responded Gough.
Gough's hate mail has drawn a sympathetic response from Yorkshire's director of coaching Martyn Moxon who will act as England boss Duncan Fletcher's deputy on the national team's one-day international tours this winter.
"Darren has received a lot of letters this season from Yorkshire members saying they will be putting foreign coins in his benefit collections," said Moxon.
"It has been very upsetting for him because Darren is always very enthusiastic about playing for Yorkshire and he gives of his best."
