From the Telegraph & Argus of September 6th, 1975... Golf courses on derelict land, more use of reservoirs for water sports, and swimming pools and sports complexes are proposed in a major new plan to develop recreation facilities close to West Yorkshire town centres. The West Yorkshire County Council, in a document makes it clear that it will give wholehearted encouragement to sports complexes rather than single units. The aim is to relieve pressure on what the council describes as an already overused countryside in the Peak District and the Dales.
From the Telegraph & Argus of September 6th, 1950... The Ministry of Food states that the price of a block of chocolate will be raised by 2d per lb from Sunday October 8 - "owing to the higher cocoa cost". At the same time the price of sugar confectionery is to be reduced by 2d per lb, the trade being asked to offset this by reduced profits.
