National grass-track racing champion Lee Complin is set to take on the rest of the world.

Lee, 15, a pupil at South Craven School, won the under-16's youth category and recently took the British finals in Cornwall.

The sport, which is similar to speedway racing but takes place on grass.

Lee, who lives in Cowling, won the Under-16's ACU Challenge and the British supreme championship on his 350cc bike.

Now he plans to step up to a 500cc bike and next season will ride in both 350cc and 500cc classes. He will also be racing with the 'big boys' after moving up into the adult class.

Lee also aims to compete abroad and enter the champions contest in Germany, the equivalent of the sport's world championship.

His 17-year-old brother James has already been riding on the Continent taking a third and a fifth place at races in France.

"The interest over there was incredible with over 9,500 fans watching the races," he said.

James also competed in the Steve Schofield Testimonial event at Tonbridge Wells coming seventh and was second in the Champion of Champions event in Kent.
