Bradford's Junior Witter remains on course for a crack at British light-welterweight champion Ricky Hatton after a third-round knockout of Chris Henry.

Witter seized his opportunity to lay out his title credentials in front of the champion with an emphatic performace in Manchester - Hatton's home city.

Hatton watched from ringside as the switch-hitter demonstrated that he can live up to his nickname of "The Hitter" with one of his most decisive displays.

The lanky Henry just couldn't cope with the elusive Witter and was finally floored by a stunning left-right combination in the third round which prompted the stoppage.

Witter, whose only defeat came when he lost on points to IBF world champion Zab Judah in June, was pleased with his night's work.

The 26-year-old Bradford boxer said: "I came here to prove a point - that I'm the best light-welterweight in the country.

"Anybody who has got a title is in trouble because I'm coming for them; I'm hunting them down."

Hatton, who will be out of action until March because of an eye injury, replied: "He's a box of tricks and I'd love the challenge."

Witter also revealed he wouldn't mind a fight with WBU champion Jason Rowland either.

Tonight welterweight Jawaid Khaliq bids to become Bradford's latest boxing icon.

Khaliq, who boxes out of the Parks Gym at Wibsey, challenges New Zealand's Sean Sullivan for the vacant Commonwealth title in Birmingham.
