PEACE campaigners have again invited President Clinton to visit Otley - after receiving no reply to their first letter.
John Eveleigh, Otley town councillor and
chairman of Menwith Hill Forum originally
wrote to President Clinton (left) in October to invite him to the town to discuss issues of concern around the American surveillance station at Menwith Hill.
President Clinton was visiting the UK from December 12-14, to encourage the peace process in Northern Ireland.
Coun Eveleigh said that the offer still stood, despite the fact that he had received no reply to his original letter to the White House.
"It would be a great honour for Otley to receive President Clinton as our guest," he said.
"We consider that the issues to be discussed here in Yorkshire are of no less importance to the
welfare of humanity than the others on the agenda of his visit. The people of Otley would give him a warm Yorkshire welcome and are well known for
facilitating full and frank, but friendly discussion."
