Keighley's Victoria Hall was packed to the rafters last Thursday afternoon as the local Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Association hosted their Christmas party for Keighley's Association for the Blind.

The annual event, which has been running since 1965 and used to take place at Temperance Hall, enjoyed the patronage of the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Bradford.

The Lord Mayor, Councillor Stanley King, said: "It's a real pleasure to be invited to this particular function and my thanks must go to the Keighley Rotary club who have organised it.

"The Keighley Rotarians do a lot of very good work behind the scenes and support a lot of worthwhile causes and I was very happy that this is one of them."

The President of the Rotary Club David Petyt started proceedings by welcoming the 150 members from the blind association and then introduced singer Louise Hindle and pianist David Boddy who provided the entertainment.
