Bingley councillors have welcomed news that US firm Alltel Mortgage Solutions Ltd hopes to create 250 jobs in the town.
Councillor Colin Gill (Conservative) said: "This is excellent news. More jobs for Bingley is always good and I wish the company every success.''
Councillor David Heseltine (Conservative) added: "Any jobs coming into Bingley is obviously good news and is just what is needed.
"Bingley has seen a number of firms leave the area such as Andertons and the like, resulting in income being lost to the town, so this should redress the balance.
"Hopefully a good proportion of the new jobs will have a spin-off effect on the local economy with shops and businesses benefitting.''
Alltel has moved into Bradford & Bingley's former head office in Main Street as a result of a joint venture which saw Bingley & Bingley take a 25 per cent stake in the company earlier this year.
As reported in yesterday's Telegraph & Argus, Alltel's chief operating officer Philip Tolchard has said the company plans to create the extra jobs in the new year.
