A fork which fell on to the heating element of a dishwasher caused a fire in a residential home in Batley.
Firefighters attended the incident at Nightingale Cottage Nursing Home in Transvaal Terrace at 11.06pm yesterday.
A fire service spokesman said a fork with a plastic handle had fallen on to the heating element at the bottom of the dishwasher and caused it to set on fire, causing a lot of smoke.
Meanwhile, a car, believed stolen, was found burnt out in a Batley street early today. Firefighters were called to Chaster Street at 12.40am where they found the Vauxhall Nova alight.
