Birkenshaw fire headquarters could be the venue for a meeting between Spen Valley Civic Society and Kirklees planning chiefs.
The Society wrote to planners to ask if they could have a meeting for members to learn about recent changes in development rules.
Society chairman Max Rathmell said: "Current planning policy is very confusing. It came to a head with the refusal of a housing application at Pyenot Hall Lane in Cleckheaton, even though the site was allocated for housing.
"Planners can advise us of the current position nationally and how this affects us in the Spen Valley."
A date and venue for the meeting is still to be confirmed.
