New Aussie recruit Shane Rigon's early season woes have continued with confirmation that he suffered a broken nose in Bradford Bulls defeat at Hull.

The former Sydney City Roosters utility player was visiting a specialist today after taking a heavy knock in Sunday's final warm-up game at the Boulevard.

The injury forced him to retire and he has had problems stemming the bleeding but he is still hopeful of figuring in Sunday's Silk Cut Challenge Cup opener with Widnes at Valley Parade.

Rigon only arrived in the country at the start of January and has already suffered from flu which left him feeling under-par for the first warm-up game at Wakefield a week ago.

The nose injury then forced him off the field at Hull and the freezing conditions also left him suffering from hypothermia.

Young back-rower Robert Parker was another casualty from the game after an unpunished incident left him needing 15 stitches in a mouth wound.

The only players ruled out of the Widnes clash so far are three-quarters Leon Pryce and Nathan McAvoy who are recovering from close season surgery.

Pryce will be back for the fifth round if Bulls progress.
