David Wetherall gave Bradford City fans a welcome boost last night when he played his first game after a groin operation.
The centre half, sidelined since being stretchered off at Derby on November 18, played the first half for the reserves against Liverpool at Valley Parade.
And his presence in the ranks obviously inspired his team-mates who claimed a 4-2 win, all the goals coming in the second half.
Michael Owen was making his comeback for the Reds but the frozen City fans were there to see Wetherall take a big step on the road to recovery.
Chairman Geoffrey Richmond said: "David always seems to have time on the ball. We have missed him greatly."
