A Buttershaw family is living in fear after their home was pelted with bottles and stones and every window was smashed.

Thomas Mullaney, 60, believes his family, including his 21-year-old son who has learning difficulties, is being victimised.

Mud and eggs have also been thrown at the Barden Avenue flat since Christmas.

Mr Mullaney, who suffers from angina, said the attacks had left his son Graham particularly disturbed.

He said: "Once, when a stone was thrown through Graham's bedroom window it took me and my wife hours to calm him down.

"He was having hysterics and needed to be restrained. Now he is frightened to leave his room as he thinks that people are trying to steal his things."

Mr Mullaney said he had no idea who was persecuting his family or why, but he suspected it was more than just teenage pranks.

"The attacks happen at night, often about 3am," he said.

"The fact that it is always our house suggests these incidents are deliberate."

A police spokesperson said there had been six reported incidents of damage at Mr Mullaney's property since last April.

She added: "In each case, there have been no witnesses or clues as to who was responsible."

Mr Mullaney said he had been forced to fit wire caging to the windows. He said the glass had been replaced by Bradford Council but the flat had been pelted with mud and snowballs throughout last week.

Queensbury councillor Michael Walls (Cons), has taken up the case. He has asked Odsal police to patrol the area.

"It is deplorable that anybody should be targeted like this," he said.

Anybody who has any information on the incidents should contact the Odsal police helpline on (01274) 376676.
