ALONGSIDE the newcomer, a veteran of the exhibition will also be hanging his works - for the 16th time.

Richard Collick, 72, also of Burley-in-Wharfedale, has been a regular at the Ilkley exhibition for several years.

Mr Collick, a retired architect, is still inspired by drawings of buildings.

He specialises in the architectural drawing he first began at the School of Architecture.

His proud wife, Wendy, said: "When he was training they had to do a sketch every week. He started doing the water colours then. He has a real knack for it."

Mr Collick, of Sandholme Drive, also uses aviation as one of his main inspirations.

The artist says he enjoys taking part in the Ilkley exhibition, where he scooped a prize at Christmas 2000.

Mr Collick, who also shows his paintings at the Yorkshire Artists Exhibition, in Skipton, said: "Mr Simpson, who organises it, gets a great number of people through his doors and a lot of people see the pictures.

"As a result I get quite reasonable sales. I usually sell more than half of what I exhibit."
