STREET names for a Burley-in-Wharfedale housing development are set to be mapped out at a meeting next month.
Road names for the
redevelopment of Scalebor Park will be confirmed by the Shipley Area Panel on April 2 - and
residents are hoping they will be right up their street.
Burley Community Council put forward several suggestions for street names, as part of a public consultation process.
These have been considered by Bradford City ward councillors and will now go before the area panel on April 2.
Bernard Calpin, senior building control surveyor with the city council, who is to submit a report to the panel, said: "We hope to use most of the names that were
suggested."
He did say, however, that they may not be able to use the names of any living people who were put forward.
The community council had hoped that Dr James Valentine, 92, of Ben Rhydding, who worked at the hospital for more than 30 years, would be honoured.
Dr Valentine took the
disappointment in good stead.
He said: "If that's the rule that's the rule but I hope they are putting in my predecessor Dr John Gilmour.
"He was the first
superintendent at Scalebor Park and I followed him.
"It would be nice if he was remembered."
John Gundry, committee member of the council, expressed his regret that he may now not be included.
He said: "We are disappointed."
