DONNING wetsuits and flippers has made unlikely stars out of an Ilkley building society
manager and one of his staff.
Andrew Munro, area manager for Skipton Building Society, on The Grove, and customer adviser Anita Dale, left, had no idea what they were letting themselves in for when they agreed to take part in the company's latest marketing campaign.
They certainly didn't expect to see themselves plastered on posters and leaflets all over the country - but that is exactly what has happened.
"There was an internal email sent out last September from marketing asking for
volunteers," said 50-year-old Mr Munro. "One of my staff replied and volunteered all of us by sending photographs."
To their surprise, Mr Munro and Mrs Dale were chosen and asked to attend two photo shoots in Manchester.
There, the pair put on wetsuits, diving masks, flying jackets and helmets and posed for pictures to advertise a new range of investment accounts.
"We had no idea really at all what was coming," said Mr Munro, of Margerison Road. "We were told what would happen but there was some trepidation. It felt a little strange at first but we got into the swing of it."
In fact, the two models were so successful, they were asked back for another shoot but couldn't spare the time.
And, despite the initial shock on seeing the adverts, they say they'd do it all again. Mrs Dale, also of Ilkley, admitted: "I'm just glad I can't be recognised. But I would probably do it again. It was good fun."
"Who knows what it might lead to," added Mr Munro.
